An entrepreneur at heart and passionate triathlonist, read about our CEO, Eder, and how his passion for people, technology, and sports brought Oceans Consulting to life.
Who is Eder? And what is your role in the company?
My name is Eder, my role from start to finish is as CEO and founder of the company. This has been a project that has been in my heart for many years and fortunately I have had the opportunity to realize it alongside an excellent team.
How long have you led the company for?
I founded the company under a different name–El Barco Technology–back in 2015, with the initial projection being completely different, and have stayed to see it evolve into what it is today, the Oceans Consulting brand.
What is it like to work at Oceans?
Oceans is a place that allows people to grow professionally, where everyone’s skills are highly regarded. This is a place where work flexibility is also allowed because the professionals with whom we work are trusted, and should be able to feel like so. I am pleased to see more opportunities come at our doors, not just because we can grow as a business, but because it makes me proud that we can extend those opportunities to professionals in our network willing to do their best.
Tell us about one thing you are proud to have accomplished
Looking back and seeing what we’ve built today, the company’s growth, and the impact on all the people involved on a professional and a personal level is what makes me glad we started it all.
What is your main motivation on a day-to-day basis?
Working toward the goal of positioning ourselves at a continuously higher level in the market to create opportunities for more and more professionals is what drives my North as founder, but beyond that, seeing the members of our team satisfied with their work, excited by challenge, and happy with their career path is what truly motivates me.
What are your career expectations?
I will never know enough about what it takes to build a successful company, I constantly strive to build the foundations of a solid enterprise and I am always on the lookout for areas of improvement.
What do you enjoy most about working remotely?
What I enjoy the most about remote work is the ability to continue practicing sports, it allows me to balance work and life to make room for family and personal time. Not having to commute to an office also saves you so much time and resources.
I believe people truly value a company that gives them the option to set up their own work environment and organize their own time, and they do their best to show it through their work.
How do you spend your time outside of work?
Coming from a country town, I value connection, I love to share time with my loved ones, with my girlfriend, my parents, siblings, and grandparents. Making time to have a coffee with them and listen to them is one of many ways in which I can repay everything they’ve done for me.
I am a huge fan of doing sports, I’ve practiced triathlon for many years now and have participated in international events. A lot of my free time is spent practicing with my friends on weekends, training, and swimming at the beach.
I am excited by adventure, so I keep a to-do list of things I want to experience, most recently I was able to check “skydiving” off this list, and loved every second of it. Next up is scuba diving!
In general, I focus on my wellbeing and health, staying active, and taking regular medical check-ups. I am also actively involved with activities from Church, and giving back to my community.
