Who is Oscar? And what is your role in the company?
My name is Oscar, I am a developer at Oceans. I have always considered myself an ambitious person, seeking to continuously progress in life and striving for excellence in what I do. I have been characterized by working hard. I originally studied accounting and started working as an assistant, but found a new passion for Software Engineering and started a new career, Oceans allowed me to leverage my accounting experience combined with my development knowledge to make the most out of projects I have participated in. My greatest driving force and motivation for becoming “someone” in life are my parents.
How long have you been with Oceans? What was your first impression?
I started working at Oceans in 2019, initially aiding with financial statements and the accounting management part of the company, as I progressed through my career, the company allowed me to collaborate and take on further projects in the areas of web development and software quality assurance that have enriched my career and learning.
What is it like to work at Oceans?
It feels like your effort pays off, recognition and career development are very important for them and the environment simply makes me comfortable and happy to be part of the team.
Tell us about one thing you are proud to have accomplished at Oceans?
I am proud to have been part of the growth of Oceans and to have contributed something from its inception until today, and also to have learned many new things that we have seen in the course of the process.
What is your main motivation on a day-to-day basis?
Learning something new every day is something that has always motivated me, I spend time taking courses to keep myself updated and improving as a professional. The firm goes to great lengths to ensure continuous learning is at the core of what we do and supports it through initiatives such as the “Oceans Challenge”, which encourages everyone in the team to pick up a new set of learnings, courses or certifications to complete every quarter.
What are your career expectations?
My main goal is to continue growing as a Software Engineer, I also want to improve as a QA and web developer, right now I am taking courses in automation.
What do you enjoy most about working remotely?
Working remotely has brought me great advantages, like not having to commute and spend money on gas but also save time.
How do you spend your time outside of work?
I am passionate about running and cycling, which is something I share with my family and friends; at some point, I would like to participate in a triathlon. I also enjoy carpentry as a hobby, I like to build things. At some point in the past, I wanted to be an architect.
