Every year, at Oceans Code Experts, we celebrate one of the most anticipated moments for our entire team: Oceans Merge, our annual event that allows us to leave the screens behind for a few days and connect face-to-face with the people we collaborate with throughout the year.
This 2025 marked the third edition of this special gathering, and the chosen destination was Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. More than 50 people joined us, including our administrative team, Code Experts, and clients, from October 2nd to 5th. It was an unforgettable experience filled with multicultural exchange, collaboration, and genuine friendship.
Why: The purpose behind Merge
We firmly believe that human connection is the foundation of every great achievement. That is why each year we organize Oceans Merge. It strengthens personal and professional relationships, fosters collaboration among teams, and celebrates the cultural diversity that defines us.
This event gives us a unique opportunity to meet colleagues we usually only see through a screen, to laugh together, share stories, and learn from one another.
Multiculturalism is a key part of our identity, and this year we were delighted to welcome participants from various countries across Latin America and Europe. It is always enriching, and sometimes even amusing, to notice cultural differences, even when we share the same language.
The Power of Face-to-Face Connection in a Remote World
At Oceans Code Experts, we’re proud to be a global remote company. Our team stretches across continents, time zones, and cultures. That diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Yet even in a world powered by video calls, Slack threads, and digital collaboration, there’s something irreplaceable about sharing the same physical space.
Face-to-face time builds trust in ways that screens can’t. A simple conversation over breakfast can spark a new idea. A laugh shared during a team activity can strengthen relationships that make remote collaboration smoother and more human. These moments of connection translate directly into better teamwork, clearer communication, and a stronger sense of belonging.
Oceans Merge is our way of investing in that human connection. It reminds us that behind every message and every line of code, there’s a real person, someone with a story, a culture, and a passion for what they do. When we return to our remote routines, that shared experience becomes the invisible glue that keeps us aligned, motivated, and moving forward together.
The What: Four unforgettable days
Each edition of Oceans Merge is carefully planned to create a balance between collaboration, learning, and pure enjoyment. This year was no exception. Over four days, we shared unique experiences that reflected the essence of who we are: a team that works hard, learns constantly, and celebrates every moment together. From meaningful conversations to spontaneous laughter, every activity was designed to strengthen the bonds that unite us as a global community.
Day 1: Arrival
The first day was quite a challenge, as everyone travelled from their home countries to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Some had shorter journeys of four to five hours, while others travelled for over a day, coming from Brazil and Spain.
Once everyone arrived at the hotel, we enjoyed our first dinner together, followed by a group outing to explore and experience the joyful Dominican culture.
Day 2: Our Annual Coworking Day
This is one of the most iconic moments of Merge: working all together in one space. Although excitement usually takes over, what truly matters is being able to share, talk, and laugh alongside the people who make Oceans possible every day.
That same day, we hosted a very special activity: we recorded a podcast with our clients, titled Neat Intelligence. We discussed Artificial Intelligence from different perspectives, and between each question, we tasted four different types of rum. The conversation was both insightful and entertaining, and we highly recommend checking it out on our YouTube channel.
Later that evening, we celebrated one of the most anticipated moments of the event: our White Party. It was an amazing night filled with music, laughter, and dancing that everyone enjoyed to the fullest.
Day 3: Ocean adventure
On the third day, we explored the stunning waters of Punta Cana aboard a catamaran. The day was full of laughter, stories, and good energy. Between snorkelling, breathtaking views, and spontaneous dance moments, it was a truly unforgettable experience.
We ended the day with our final group dinner, a perfect moment to reflect, share gratitude, and simply enjoy each other’s company once more.
Day 4: Farewell
The last day always comes too soon. After breakfast, everyone began their journey back home. Saying goodbye is always bittersweet, but we all left with beautiful memories and a heart full of gratitude. The countdown has already begun for the next Merge.
Reflections
Oceans Merge 2025 once again reaffirmed who we are as a company: a human, close-knit, and multicultural community that stays connected beyond distance.
At Oceans, we work remotely, yet our values, collaboration, and camaraderie keep us truly united. Events like this are a clear reflection that behind every line of code, every project, and every client, there are passionate, talented people giving their best.
More than an event, Merge is a celebration of our culture and of the people who make it possible every single day.
We left Punta Cana with full hearts and the certainty that as long as we continue nurturing these connections, we will keep creating extraordinary things together.
